Darrell Harris Hughes Sep 25, 1919 - Dec 13, 1999 Darrell Harris Hughes, 80, of Corsicana passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in Corsicana. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corley Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. B.F. Risinger Jr. and Brother Bill Honea officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Boyd, Troy Dixon, Loyd Gillen Jr., John Hughes, Eric Meyers, Roark Montgomery, Ronnie Norwood, John Slate and Bill Warrington. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Corsicana Masonic Lodge, AF&AM No. 174. Mr. Hughes was born Sept. 25, 1919 in Corsicana. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge No. 174 in Corsicana. He served in the 90th Division of the 3rd Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Harris Highes Jr., father, John Alvin Hughes; mother, Peyton McGee Pope Hughes; brothers, Alton Maurice Hughes and Leonard Franklin Hughes; and nephew, Barry Hughes. Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlye Allen Hughes of Corsicana; daughter and son-in-law, Yolanda Hughes and Thomas Dewey Norwood of Red Oak; granddaughter, Amanda Rae Norwood of Austin; nephews and their wives, John A. and Becky Hughes of Arlington and Larry and Betty Hughes of Frost; nieces, Jane Hughes of Ennis and Ginger Trent and husband Harvey; sister-in-law, Ruth Hughes of Ennis; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
