Bio

TEMPLE, Texas, No. 30.-- Funeral services for John Herna Jr. of Dallas were held here Thursday. Burial was in the Seaton Cemetery. Herna was discovered near the home of his sister, Mrs. Ella Sefcik, Monday night. He was shot one time with a shotgun. Justice of the Peace R. W. Watts returned an inquest verdict of death by self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was born in Czechoslovakia in 1900 and moved to the united States as a child. He had lived near Temple most of his life but had been working in Dallas for a number of years as a carpenter. Herna is survived by his wife; his father, John Herna Sr. of Temple; a brother, Frank Herna of Temple; three sisters, Mrs. Boyd Dillard and Mrs. Ella Sefcik, both of Temple, and Mrs. Frances Beckworth of San Angelo.
