Pvt Co G 3rd AR Infantry C.S.A. Proud Confederate Soldier ------------------------- Obituary published in Claiborne Parish Trails (1996, No.2) from a newspaper clipping found in the estate of Kermit Knighton of Gibsland in 1975. Frank Courtney died at his home just south of Mt. Lebanon, La. early Thursday morning from a heart stroke at the age of 85. Mr. Courtney was a Confederate veteran and the son of the noted Dr. Courtney of Mt. Lebanon, a noted physician and Baptist divine whose labors were identified with the early history of this section. Services were held at the Mt. Lebanon. Baptist Church with Rev. J. C. Cox officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Lebanon cemetery. Survived by his widow; two daughters, Mesdames Jessie Wise of Mansfield, La. and Will Hinton of Shreveport, La.; three sons, Messrs . Howard Courtney of Grand Cane, La., Ernest Courtney of Shreveport, La., and Melton Courtney of Mt. Lebanon, La.; two sisters, Mesdames J. D. Holstun of Gibsland, La. and Annie Gatlin of Keatchi.
