William was the son Daniel Caton & Mary Ann Phillips. He married Sarah Ray (daughter of Cary Ray & Martha Jane Griggs) 29 December 1892 in Wayne Co., TN. After Sarah died he married Lou Annie Copeland Throgmorton 1 Sep 1907 in Wayne County, Tennessee.
