Bio

John V. Keating, age 76, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009. He was born Jan. 22, 1933, at El Dorado, Ark., a son of the late Vernon and Virginia Keating. He was reared and educated in Union County, having attended Quinn schools before leaving to join the United States Navy Reserve and then later the United State Air Force, from which he retired in 1973. A member of Dollarway Baptist Church, he later worked for Pinkerton Security and as a security guard for Weyerhaeuser in Pine Bluff. He was predeceased by four sisters, Ruth Benson, Mary Spahni, Betty Barker and Nelda Stringfellow. Survivors include two sisters, Minnie Spahni of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ginny Hathhorn of Loudon, Tenn. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Eddie Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
