OBITUARY FROM THE BELLVILLE TIMES: Mrs. Gaskamp Funeral Rites Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Gaskamp of Rt. 3, Brenham, were held from the Chapel of the Pete E. Etlinger Funeral Home in Bellville at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, with the Rev. Gordon Hejl officiating. Interment was in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leroy, Reinhard and Reuben Gaskamp, Paul Freier, Edwin Franke and Jerry Ahrens. Mrs. Gaskamp passed away in the Brenham Sweetbriar Nursing Home at 7 a.m. Friday, April 21, 1972. She had been in failing health for the past 20 years. Born in New Ulm December 19, 1891, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joachim and Wilhelmina Freier. She was reared in New Ulm and educated in the public school there. She was a member of Wesley Brethren Church. She was confirmed and baptized in the St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. The former Miss Minnie Freier was married to William H. Gaskamp December 15, 1910, in ceremonies performed in New Ulm. Mr. Gaskamp passed away February 5, 1962. Survivors include, daughters, Mrs. Albert Weiss of Brenham and Mrs. F. P. Smith of Houston; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, Lilburn Weiss.
