Rose C. Bishop of Loveland passed away April 9, 2011. She fell asleep Friday evening and did not awake just as Jesus once promised her in a dream. She was born on September 17, 1917, in Louisville, Colorado the daughter of Anton and Rosa Gutfelder. Her early years were spent growing up on the family farm east of Gilcrest, Colorado, and she graduated from Gilcrest High School in 1936. As the caring and giving individual she was, she pursued a career in nursing and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, in Denver, in 1939. Nursing took her to Los Angeles, CA, where she met Byrl J. Bishop. Rose married Byrl on July 24, 1946 in Platteville, Colorado. They returned to Los Angeles and raised their family through 1971 when they came home to Colorado and settled in Loveland. Rose was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and loved traveling, gardening, bird watching and feeding any animal venturing into her yard. She was an avid bowler and belonged to Loveland area bowling leagues even into the 1990s. Rose is survived by her children, Thomas Bishop and wife Kathrine of Palmer, Alaska; Barbara Mangione and husband Martin of Brea, California; Kenneth Bishop and wife Paula of Aspen, Colorado; and Timothy Bishop and wife Julie of Loveland. She is also survived by her brother, Benedict Gutfelder and wife Betty of Platteville, Colorado; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and 1 nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Rosa; sister, Mae Rupple; and husband Byrl. A visitation will be held from 5:30-6:30pm on Thursday, April 14 with the Rosary at 7pm at Allnutt Hunter Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30am, Friday, April 15 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland located at 1730 W. 12th St. Inurnment will be held at Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville, Colorado on Monday April 18, 2011 at 10am.
