Bio
Merton Owen Grayson, 87, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Grayson was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Waco. He served in the U.S. Navy on the DD607 USS Frazier in World War II from Aug. 24, 1942, to Oct. 13, 1945. He lived in Childress from 1930 until 1953, when he moved to Amarillo. He worked for the Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ruth Grayson; a brother, Leslie; and a sister, Frances. Survivors include a son, Merton Owen Grayson III of Amarillo; two brothers, Morris Irving Grayson of Lake Texhoma and Emory Paul Grayson of Bella Vista, Ark.; and two sisters, Merle Patterson of Childress and Helen McLarty of Garland.
