Bio
Bill McBride, 79, of Baytown, Texas passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. He was born on Dec. 19, 1929, in Goodrich, TX, to Claudie McBride and Elsie Belcher. Bill graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, attended Lee College and went to work for Humble Oil in 1948. In March of 1951, he proudly joined the US Air Force where he served a total of four years, two years in the Korean War and was stationed on a radar site in Japan. He finished his term in Long Beach, WA. Bill returned to Humble (Exxon) and retired after 41 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudie McBride and Elsie Belcher, step-father, Marvin Belcher and sister, Eula Mae Godby. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 plus years, Nina McBride; daughters, Theresa (Teri) Litras and husband Christopher of Newark, OH, and Susan Weger and husband Jeffrey of Highlands, TX; grandchildren, Eric Litras and wife Lisa of Parma, OH, Travis Litras and wife Suzie of Spokane, WA, Jamie Stanbery and husband Jason of Crosby, TX, and Seth Carpenter of Highlands, TX; four great grandsons, Evan and Landon Litras, Owen Litras and Lawson Stanbery. The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, from 6 until 8 pm at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 11 am, in Earthman's chapel, with Rev. Don Lewis officiating. Inter-ment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown. Pallbearers will be Eric Litras, Travis Litras, Seth Carpenter, Jason Stanbery, Bobby Lee, Mark Lee, John Lee and Lloyd Godby. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Gardner, Walton Scott, Bill Watts and Bobby Lintelman. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
