FREDERICK R. H. PVT K 5 AL CAV 04/22/1863 CS LOT 260, #55 Robert Huston Frederick, son of Hezekiah Frederick and Ezilla Hobson, was born in Alabama 21 OCT 1825. Robert died 22 APR 1863 in P.O.W. camp, Louisville, Kentucky, at 37 years of age. His body was interred 1863 in Cave Hill Cem., Louisville, Kentucky. He married Millie Blanch Box in Alabama, circa 1850. Millie was born in Franklin Co., Al. 11 MAR 1830. Millie died 22 AUG 1904 in Tuscaloosa, AL., at 74 years of age. Robert volunteered with the 5th Alabama Regimental Cavalry at the age of 37. He was captured March 24, 1863, at Holly Grove, Tennessee, and sent to a P.O.W. camp at City Point, Virginia; he died within a month in a Yankee prison at Louisville, Kentucky. On file in the Alabama Department of Archives & History in Montgomery, Alabama, are pension records filed by Millie Box Frederick. The earliest Widows Application was filed May 27th, 1893. The application was filed in Russellville, located in Franklin County, Alabama. Judge of Probate at that time was W.M. Waltrip. On April 20, 1898, Millie would again file for pension benefits. Judge of Probate at that time was George C. Almon. On the Affidavit for Witnesses to Application of Widows, Register in Chancery is W.H. Austin. This application was signed June 8, 1900, and would contain two friends of Robert's. John T. Mansell (signed June 9) and A.W. Devaney (signed June 11). Other evidence of Robert's place in history is contained in the Confederate Veteran.
