Obituary - 13 January 2009 - Beatrice Daily Sun Robert B. Rican, age 84, Omaha, passed away Jan. 8, 2009. A native of Omaha, he was born Feb. 25, 1924, the son of Jerry and Rose. Bob was a World War II veteran who survived the Battle of the Bulge. He had worked at AT&T-Western Electric until he retired. Loris, his wife, will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his sister, Bess; his children, Robert Rican and Lisa Hinton; stepchildren, Sheryl Dirks, David Holmstrand, Joe Holmstrand of Beatrice; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cemetery in Omaha. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Disabled American Veterans and sent in care of the family.
