Henry J. Heins, the son of John and Katherine Brandt Heins was born January 12, 1889, at Rising City, Ne. During WWI he served with the 89th Infantry in France. He was engaged in farming and later employed by Sack Lumber, Co., Hilger Construction Co., and with Dale Smith in the construction of Redeemer Lutheran Church here. Over the years he lived at Garrison, Rising City and David City. On July 18, 1946 he was united in marriage to Helen Prochaska. They made their home in David City. Mr. Heins is survived by his wife, Helen, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Alex Kahler of Lincoln, a step grandson, Terry Lee Kahler of Lincoln, one sister, Mrs. Theodore (Anna) Klingemann of Ulysses and several nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death were his parents: four brothers, Jacob, Herman, John and Albert; and three sisters, Mary, Katie and Mattie. Source: The Banner Press September 1980
