Anton "Tony" Michalek, 64, of Penelope, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope, with the Rev. B. George as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery near Penelope. Tony was born in Granger, Texas, to the Anton V. and Betty Klepek Michalek. He attended Granger schools and graduated from Granger High School in 1962, before attending Temple Junior College. Tony served his country with the United States Air Force. He worked for the VA Regional Center in Waco, and worked for Binswanger Glass Company in Waco, for 30 years before retiring as manager in 1990. Tony enjoyed barbuecuing, working and spending time with his family, especially his grandson. He was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #54 in West, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Daniel Michalek. Survivors include sons, Frank Michalek and fiancée, Michelle Whearley, of Woodway, and Dan Michalek and wife, Britaney, of Axtell; grandson, Corey Michalek, of Axtell; the mother of his children, Gerri Michalek Weber, of Corsicana; brother, Raymond Michalek and wife, Barbara, of Leroy; sister-in-law, Joy Michalek, of Granger; and several nephews; a niece; many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society. WT: 1/7/2009...U3
