Woodrow Skaggs of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, was born on September 3rd, 1916, at Maysville, Arkansas, the son of George Wesley Skaggs and Maude Anna (Loftis) Skaggs. He received his early education in Grove, Oklahoma. Woodrow entered the U.S. Army on March 10, 1941 and proudly served his country during WW II. He received several medals and ribbons during this time. He was honorably discharged June 3, 1945. Woodrow lived in Oregon and worked for the Kirk and J.H.C. ranches where he worked cattle and sheep. He returned to Oklahoma and lived on the family farm at Proctor. Woodrow was also employed with the City of Tahlequah for thirteen years as a heavy equipment operator. Woodrow was married to Willie Dalton on November 8, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had many happy years together until her death on August 13, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edgar and Herrel Skaggs and by four sisters, Gladys Skaggs, Hattie Budy, Zilphia Ackerman and Margaret Hart. Woodrow was a faithful member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah. He also was a member of the American Legion. Woodrow departed this life on Friday, January 4th, 2008, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and a very special friend, Mrs. Anna Bell Isaacs who was Woodrow's Sunday School Teacher. Funeral services for will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah. Reverend Arlis Moon, Pastor, will preside. Interment will follow at the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
