Willaims (sic), 87, 1210 Lillius St., Abilene, former Hunt County resident, were held Saturday in North's Memorial Chapel with Dr. Elbert Peake, pastor of Faith Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Williams died Dec. 21 in Hendrick Medical Center after a three-week illness. He was born at Tidwell in Hunt County and attended Hunt County schools. He married Lillie Mae Umbarger on Oct. 5, 1913 and farmed in Hunt County until he moved to West Texas in 1928. Mr. Williams farmed near Menkel (sic) and Anson until moving to Abilene in 1947. He was a long time employee of Hendrick MedicaL Center, retiring in 1971. Mr. Williams was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had been a Baptist since 1905. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Colonel Jessie Williams and Glendell Williams both of Abilene and Rev. James Williams of Anson; two daughters, Theda Elrod of Abilene and Nell Brown of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a greatgreatgrandchild. Also surviving are a brother, Ray Williams of Hamlin; and a sister, Gladys Dooly of Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Nancy Morgan Williams and by five sisters, two brothers and two sons. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
