Bio

Obituary (provided by Cameron Disney, member #47173342) "Echo Mizner Echo Mizner was born July 21, 1909 to Milo and Sarah Mizner at Hazard, Nebraska. When he was a small boy they moved to a place north of Valentine and he spent his entire life in the Valentine area. He departed this life suddenly December 22, 1978. Eck, as he was known, enjoyed every minute of his life. His 51 family, friends, and work were very important to him. He never met a stranger or a man he didn't like. He needed no hobbies, people were his hobby. He loved to visit and reminisce. His stories will live on forever, being told and retold. Eck leaves a rich heritage of values and challenges. Eck was united in marriage in 1930 to Elda Peterson. She departed this life in 1937. Four children were born to this union: Merlin Lee, Piscataway, N.J.; Mrs. Noreen Cross, Aurora, Colo.; Harlan Vernon, Estacada, Oregon; and Malvern, Washington, D.C. Eck was united in marriage to Katherine Bailey on March 2, 1939. Two children were born to them: Mrs. Jackie Stoecker of Grand Island; and Jim Mizner of Lexington. The Mizner home was never so full that there wasn't room for more. Many young people passed through their home feeling loved, wanted, and needed. Eck was not a professional man. He worked at many occupations but never forgot the most important profession of all, being a Man. He did well at any task he undertook. He loved the great outdoors, many hours were spent in fishing and yard work. Eck was a kind, loving, husband, a devoted, proud father and grandfather. This obituary would not be complete without the mentioning of the name Laurie Smith. Eck always bragged "SHE's the best boy you can find". He loved her very much and had made room in his big heart for her and her little sister, Michelle. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, four brothers, and 2 grandchildren. Eck is the last of the family. He is survived by his wife, Katie, six children, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews." VALENTINE NEWSPAPER January 03, 1980 Valentine Cherry County Nebraska IN MEMORIAM In loving memory of our dear husband, father, and grandfather, Echo Mizner Christmas came and is gone you left us one year ago A silent thought, a secret tear Has kept your memory ever dear But till memory fades and life departs--
