The Austin American Austin, Texas Wednesday, August 20, 1941, front page Aged Couple Killed, 3 Hurt As Tire Blows Temple Residents Victim in Crash Near Fredericksburg FREDERICKSBURG, Aug. 19. -- (INS) -- An aged couple was killed and 3 persons were injured when a car overturned on the Austin highway five miles east of Fredericksburg Tuesday afternoon. Dead are Robert F. Williams, 70, and Mrs. Robert F. Williams, 65. Injured are their daughter, Mrs. Oscar Miles, 40, their granddaughter, Julette Miles, 16, and a friend, Miss Mary Catherine Alle, 16, all of Temple. Mrs. Miles is suffering from head wounds and shock. The girls were treated for multiple cuts and bruises. All three are under treatment in a local hospital according to Doctors Herbert Pfeiffer and Lester Keyser. The tragedy occurred when a rear tire blow out on the sedan in which they were riding overturning their car. The group was returning home from a visit in Utopia. Bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Williams are at the Beckman Funeral home.
