Bio

Howard Edgar McLane, 87, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at his Klamath Falls, Ore., residence. Howard was born on Dec. 10, 1920, in Grants Pass, Ore., to his parents Ona Edgar McLane and the former Nora Van de Walker. The family later moved to Langell Valley, Ore., where he grew up and graduated from Bonanza High School. Howard served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps with a rank of master sergeant, flight crew chief. His bride to be, Marie Thelma Wood, traveled by train to Orlando, Fla., for their wedding in May of 1944 while he was still defending our country. Howard requested that no funeral be held. His final resting place will be next to his beloved wife Marie Thelma McLane at Klamath Memorial Park. After his honorable discharge from military service, Howard began working for Southern Pacific Railroad, following in the family tradition, and retired as an engineer in 1980 after 34 years of faithful service. Howard is survived by his daughter and her husband Cheryl and Chuck Medill; grandson Eric McLane; nephew and nieces Tom and Pam Darley, Kent and Marie Francis; plus many other nephews and nieces; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, daughter Noni and brothers Wally and Ray. Those wishing to do so may send memorials in memory of Howard to Klamath Hospice, 4745 S. Sixth St., Klamath Falls, OR 97603. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors, is in charge of the arrangements. Published in the Herald And News on 11/24/2008
