Bio

Mrs. H. H. Baley Died At Clifton Mrs. H. H. Baley died at her home in Clifton early Monday morning after an illness of but short duration, having taken ill while at Glen Rose Saturday and was immediately brought home. Deceased was born in Alabama March 6, 1849, and moved to Louisiana with her parents when but a child, and at the age of twenty moved to Texas. On October 2, 1874, she was married to H. H. Baley, they immediately making their home near Hurst Springs in Coryell county on a farm, where they continued to live until eighteen years ago when they moved to their Clifton home. At the age of thirteen Mrs. Baley was converted and has been a member of the Methodist church since this time, and five young men who are now ministers contribute this fact to the influence of Mr. and Mrs. Baley. Mrs. Baley helped to rear five adopted children, she having none of her own. Five brothers and three sisters of deceased, who are named below, were present for the funeral and last meeting of the nine children on this earth: F. W. McClendon, Temple; B. S. McClendon, Vega; R. A. McClendon, Nevada; I. L. McClendon, Walnut Springs; R. K. McClendon, Morgan; Mrs. R. V. Gallaway, Ranger; Mrs. W. F. Manney, Chickasha, Okla. Preparations and plans for the usual annual reunion of these nine brothers and sisters had been set for Tuesday, July 24, at the home of I. L. McClendon at Walnut Springs, just one week from the date of Mrs. Baley's burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church by the pastor, Rev. T. G. Story, assisted by other ministers present, in the presence of a very large crowd of friends who filled the house to overflowing, which fact was the evidence of the high esteem and love which was held for this good woman. Interment was made in the Clifton Cemetery. -Clifton Record. Source: The Meridian Tribune, Meridian, Texas, Friday, June 20, 1923; Pg. 5, Column 4
