Bio
Dudley Austin, 85, of Groveton, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2017 at his residence in Groveton. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the McKnight Cemetery in Cushing, Texas with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating. Burial will follow in McKnight Cemetery in Cushing, Texas. Dudley was born June 10, 1932 in Pitkin, Louisiana the son of Benjamin Franklin Austin and Bell (Cloud) Austin. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in war time dating 1950-1953. He loved to spend time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the Lord and he loved to go to the Gospel Singings that were held every third Saturday. He was a man of faith and enjoyed attending church services. He also had a love of wood work and could be found creating new woodworking pieces. He was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church of Groveton. He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Delma Powell and Kathleen Adams; brothers: Willie Austin, Marvin Austin, Hardy Austin, J.D. Austin and Aubrey Austin; sisters: Josephine Perkin, Eather West and Sally West; former wife, Doris Austin and two half siblings. Survivors include his loving wife Betty Austin of Groveton; children: Shirley Mcnice, John Dudley Austin, Darleen Mayler, Marsha Fisher and Andrew Harger; sister, Lear Austin of Layfayette, Louisiana; twenty grandchildren; twent-five great grandchildren; as well his many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
