Joseph claimed to have had a lot of Cherokee Indian blood, with perhaps a little Choctaw. This checks out with newly established information dating prior to Joseph's birth. Joseph was born in Lindale, Texas after his parents moved in 1857 to TX from Yalobusha Co., MS.
