Bio

Curtis H. `Bud' Warner, 80, of Big Horn died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, while recovering from surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Mr. Warner was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Boulder, Colo., to Faye Haworth and John C. Warner. He was a 1942 graduate of Boulder High School and joined the Marines in December 1943. He served in an amphibious assault unit in the South Pacific until March 1946. He married Patricia Jane Nelson on June 22, 1946. They moved to Sheridan County in 1956 and settled in Big Horn in 1957. Mr. Warner owned and operated Sheridan Frame and Axle until his retirement. He loved the Big Horn Mountains, was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was a charter member of the Big Horn Lions Club. He was also a volunteer fireman in Big Horn from 1958-80 and served on the Sheridan County Fire Board from 1970-98. He was preceded in death by a brother, James, and a sister, Myrtle Tisone. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth of Seattle; two daughters, Bonnie Oppenheimer of Tahoe City, Calif., and Cindy Phillip of Riverton; and a brother, John of Boulder.
