Bio

Lawrence A Steele was the oldest son of Samuel David Steele and Amelia Helen Gilkerson. He was the first of the eight children to leave the "nest" and move west. Although still in South Dakota he bought property around Rochford. On 09 Mar 1936, in Pennington County, he married Marjorie L Wedmore and they were the parents of two daughters. Beverly and Bonnie Steele. Lawrence died in 1947 under suspicious circumstances. His father thought he had been poisoned by his wife, and her boyfriend, whom she married after Lawrence died. Nothing was ever proven. Although one of his daughters eluded to the fact, it was probably true. He died at the age of 34 years 7 months and 4 days.
