The writing on Johns marker reads as this, "His manifest was fruitive no a test maniacal to his memory." I had to invert the color and adjust the brightness/contrast to read the inscription. Basically, it means this, "His display/appearance was enjoying/producing no presence mentally to his memory." Now, with John being in the civil war, wounded and captured at Peach-tree, July 20.1864 he must have been a very strong man inside and out. He was sent to Camp Chase, Ohio were he was finally released during the surrender in 1865. He was very fortunate to make it out of there alive. Conditions were beyond that you can't describe unless you lived/survived it personally.
"His manifest was fruitive no a test maniacal to his memory."
