From the SOUTH BEND (IN) TRIBUNE, November 11, 2008: SOUTH BEND - Evelyn B. Kovatch, 87, of South Bend, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, November 9, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility after an extended illness. Mrs. Kovatch was born on April 7, 1921, in South Bend, and had resided in the Michiana area her lifetime. On July 6, 1946, in South Bend, she married Ernest E. Kovatch, who preceded her in death on January 25, 1991. Evelyn is survived by three daughters, Patricia Fraser and Alexandria Voreis, both of South Bend, and Mary Ellen Kovatch of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Samantha Ann Fraser, Amy Louise Mercotte, Adam Ernest Fraser, Venessa Vahn Voreis and Winston Enos. Also five great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Cameron, Tara, Ryan and Samuel. Mrs. Kovatch was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and by a son, Mike Kronewitter-Jordan. Evelyn was a homemaker who cherished her family and loved her grandchildren deeply. She loved sewing, crocheting, needle point, was an active fitness individual who always walked, loved music and loved to play the piano. She always worked at the polls during election time. She was also a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, serving the Lord well. Mrs. Kovatch will be sadly missed by her loving family and all who had the opportunity to know her during her life journey.
