William C. "Bill" Lansford Sr., 94, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, in Granbury. Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Granbury. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wiley Funeral Home. Mr. Lansford was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Crockett to Cyrus Gershom Lansford and Agnes Lucile McCarty Lansford. He married Virginia Hoff on Dec. 14, 1940, in Fort Worth; she preceded him in death Aug. 3, 1970. On Oct. 1, 1976, he married Jean Merritt Shedd; she passed away Aug. 18, 2003. Mr. Lansford had resided in Granbury since 1977. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1965, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He was very active in Masonic Lodge #392 in Granbury and its scholarship foundation. He was a 50-year 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason and received the Golden Trowel award in 2001. Mr. Lansford was also a member of the Moslah Shrine and the Lake Granbury Shrine clubs. Bill was an avid bridge player and enjoyed working on the farm, in his church and with the lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; brothers, Chester, C.G. and Horace; and sisters, Adina and Luella. Survivors: Son, William C. "Bill" Lansford Jr. and wife, Kim, of Arlington.
