Richard Abner Pickett was the son of George P. H. Pickett and Sarah B. Kirkland. He was the husband of Sarah A. Butts Floyd and father of 8 children. He was a private in Co. D of the 63rd Alabama Inf. Regt, CSA, and was captured at the Battle of Blakely.
