The Sherman County Times - Jun 16 1949 Katherine Jaworski, 95 [sic], Is Buried Today Funeral services were set for 10 o'clock this morning in St. Josaphat's church for Katherine Jaworski, 93, who died Tuesday in Grand Island. Burial was to be in St. Josaphat's cemetery. Thanks to contributor #47226369 Note: Was first married to a Mr. Plebanek and in a marriage record it was shown as "Vincent Plebanek". Their daughter is supposedly born in Nebraska in 1891 but I can find no record of that. ================= The Sherman County Times - Thurs, Jun 30 1949, Pg 1, Col 4 Funeral services for Mrs. Jaworski, 93, mother of Mrs. Frank Golus, who died at a Grand Island hospital Tuesday, June 14 were held Thursday, June 22 at St. Josephat's church in Loup City with Fr. Stanislaus Jaworski O.F.M. of Cleveland, as celebrate. The children's choir, under the direction Sister Francilla, sang the Requiem Mass. Pallbearers were Hubert, Felix, Clarence and Ted Golus, Ben Wadas and Melvin Kalkowski. Out-of-town relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Golus, Mr and Mrs. Martin Levinson of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wadas, and Mrs. Joe Wadas of Ord, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew A. Jaworki, Mrs. Catherine Jaworski, Jr., and Denis, all of Tarnov, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kalkowski of Sargent, Mrs. Alois Jaworski of Omaha, and Sister M. Cunegundis of Albuquerque, N. M. Mrs. Jaworski was born in Poland April 30, 1856. She came to America with her first husband, Vincent Plebanek in 1901. He died in New York within a few hours after landing. Mrs. Plebanek and her two children, John and Catherine, proceeded to Nebraska where they found a home with friends in Pilzno (Nance County). In the summer of 1902 John died of pneumonia at St. Mary's hospital in Columbus. In the meantime, Mrs. Plebanek had found employment as a domestic in the Pilzno community. In February 1903, she married John Jaworski of Tarnov who died in May 1929. Mrs. Jaworski continued to live in Tarnov until 1944 when she came to Loup City to make her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Golus.
