Daughter of John & Anna (Kondzala) Lamek. ------------ Sherman County Times (Loup City) May 1943 Services Monday For Mrs. Barbara Ann Czaplewski Dies Here Thursday At Age of 87 Years; Born in Poland. Funeral services were held in St. Josaphat’s church Monday morning in charge of Rev. Leonard Ziolkowski, for Mrs. Barbara Ann Czaplewski, 87, whose death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Stanczyk Thursday. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Czaplewski was born in Mala Slonca, Poland on March 11, 1856, her maiden name was Barbara Ann Lamek. She was united in marriage to John M. Czaplewski in Poland in 1880 and four years later they came to this country, settling in Omaha and then nine years later they came to Sherman county where they had since made their home. Mr. Czaplewski died in 1928 and she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Francis Kuffel in 1924 and Mrs. Martha Czarnek in 1934. The past few years she had made her home with her daughter Mrs. John Stanczyk. She is survived by four sons, John J. of Omaha; Joseph, Frank and Benjamin [sic] of Loup City; three daughters, Mrs. John Stanczyk, Mrs. John Pelanowski of Loup City and Mrs. Anna Grabowski of Lincoln; one brother, Mike Lamek of St. Louis, Mo., one nephew, Rev. John Lamek of Jefferson City, Mo., four nieces of St. Louis and 58 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. Eleven grand sons are in the armed forces, two being over seas. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Pvt. Leonard Czaplewski, T. Sgt. Frank Kuffel, Bob Jeffery, Harry Czarnek, Anton Kuffel, Louis Czaplewski.
