Betty Jean was the wife of Dewell Allen Collins. Their children were Suette, Lou Janette, Sharon Kay, and Rita Collins. Betty Jean's siblings were Pat Decker and Jimmy Rufus Decker. OBIT Services for Betty Collins, 77, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Travis Baptist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Johnnie Snider officiating. The family will hold a private burial at Kirkland Cemetery in Kirkland, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Collins passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2006 in Memphis, TX. She was born on January 2, 1929 in McKinney, TX to the late Mr. Luther Decker and Mrs. Vera Walkup Decker. She grew up in Goodlet, TX and married D.A. Collins on May 27, 1944 in Childress, TX. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1998. Mrs. Collins lived in Childress, TX and Kirkland, TX before moving to Memphis, TX in 1959. She was a cosmetologist and also worked for GTE as a telephone operator for several years. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of Travis Baptist Church in Memphis, TX. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She is survived by four daughters, Lue Crockett of Wheeler, TX, Sue Madrid of Wichita Falls, TX, Kay Blum of Memphis, TX, and Rita Flores of Amarillo, TX; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her close friend Sammy Crawford of Memphis, TX.
