Obituary: Services for Hazel Hughes Cummings of Lubbock will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at First Baptist Church with Dr. D.L. Lowrie and the Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cummings died Saturday, April 23, 2005. Hazel Hughes married Clifton H. Cummings Sept. 22, 1940 in Roaring Springs. He died March 20, 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Lubbock Symphony Guild, Lubbock Woman's Forum, Garden Study Club, Chapter, AA, P.E.O., West Texas Museum Association, National Ranching Heritage Center, Lubbock Women's Club, and the Mayflower Society. Survivors include two sons, Sam and his wife Sally, and Jim and his wife Jan; and five grandchildren: Paul and Marla Cummings of San Angelo, David and Heather Cummings of Lubbock, Mark and Jacki Cummings of Ann Arbor, Mich., Julie and John Whitmarsh of Austin, and Marcie Cummings of Austin; five great-grandchildren, Kamryn Cummings, Fletcher Cummings, Aftyn Cummings, Caroline Whitmarsh, and Adison Cummings. Hazel's family wishes to express special gratitude to her special caregivers of Home Instead and Hospice of Lubbock.
