Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, February 26, 1981; pg. 16 Charles B. Carbutt, son of Cyrus B. and Elsie Ames Carbutt, was born in Lincoln Township in Republic County October 22, 1883, and died at the Good Samaritan Center at Minneapolis February 20, 1981, at the age of 97 years, three months and 28 days. He received his education at the Beulah Rural School and attended Kansas State University at Manhattan. He was united in marriage to Sadie Passmore in 1902 and to this union two children were born. She died in 1944. He was united in marriage to Abbie Havel in 1948. He spent most of his life on the family farm south of Belleville. he moved to Salina in 1972 and spent the past 2 1/2 years at the Good Samaritan Center. He was a member of the BPOE Lodge No. 566, and the St. John's Lodge No. 113 AF&AM of Concordia. He was a member of the Selective Service Board for 25 years. He was preceded in death by is parents; his wife, Abbie in 1952; one sister. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. (Enid) Ernest Ernzen of Chanute; one son, Cyrus Carbutt of Salina; one grandchild; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home of Belleville February 23, conducted by the Rev. John W. Frint. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
