Alexander was the son of Elias Alexander Aduddell and Sarah Hall. Alexander married Polly Masters on 14 Nov 1809 in Belmont County, Ohio. They had the following children: Benjamin and Sarah Alexander then wed Sarah Elizabeth Marsh and had the following children: Phebe, Elias, Jesse, Rachel, Mary Jane, Elizabeth, Joseph, Nancy, Hannah, and possibly Thomas, George and Alexander
