Edith Agnes (Motal) Ross, 76, died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, in Farmington. She was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Yoakum, Texas, to Emilie and Joseph Motal Jr. Edith married Gilbert Ross on Nov. 13, 1950, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yoakum, Texas. They moved to Farmington in December 1958. Edith was a wonderful, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured her friends. All who knew Edith fell in love with her beautiful smile and gracious heart. She was a devoted Catholic with a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. Edith had a love for St. Mary's Youth Group because they are our future. She was an accomplished seamstress, making clothing and special occasion costumes for her family. Edith was very gifted in crochet and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gilbert P. Ross; her parents; and her brother, Louis Motal. Edith is survived by her children, Cynthia Jo, Bridget Henley and husband, Clayton, Gilbert (G.P.) Ross II and fiancé, Diane Lucero, Marie Silva and husband, Mark, all of Farmington; and by seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Manning and husband, Norman, of Yoakum, Texas, and Katherine Hermes, of Katy, Texas; sister-in-law, Margaret Elaine Motal, of Victoria, Texas; and by nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to p.m., today, Sunday, Oct. 26, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington. Rosary and The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be recited at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Farmington. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be celebrated for Edith at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Farmington. Celebrant will be Father Michael Vigil. Edith will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Memory Gardens of Farmington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Youth Group or St. Mary's Continuing Projects.
