Bio

Son of Edward & Lillian (Kuklish) Vanek. He grew up and attended schools in Custer County. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1958. Lester joined the US Army and served his country from 1962-1964. Following the service he lived with his family in Silver Creek. Lester married Elissia Baker on June 8, 1968 in Silver Creek. He worked for Central Sand and Gravel/Lyman Richey for about 30 years. He retired in 2006. Lester was a member of the Silver Creek American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and the outdoors. He is survived by: Wife Elissia Vanek of Silver Creek Sister LeJoy Vanek of Silver Creek Brother LeRoy Vanek of Stanton, NE Nephews Travis Vanek & Robert, Dale, David (Erin), and Daniel Baker Niece Tracy (Wayne) Mustard Many great nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in laws, and a niece.
