Ruby Alma Sheppard, 94, of Blair, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kincannon Funeral Home with the Rev. Madison Clinton and Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 20, 1914, in Crisp, Texas, to James T. and Myrtle (Webb) Osborne. She graduated from Crisp High School in 1932. She married T. D. Sheppard on March 6, 1937 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1999. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, canning and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus. She and her husband T. D. helped start several churches in West Texas and on the border of Mexico. She was a member of the Eastern Star Organization. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, James and H. T.; and three sisters, Era, Ella V. and Grace. She is survived by two daughters, LaVerne Baker and husband Ross of Blair, and Sherri Gault and husband Delbert of Lubbock, Texas; three sisters, Billie Snoffer of Mesquite, Texas, Lucille Hosek of Ennis, Texas, and Dean Davis and husband of Vancouver, Wash.; three grandchildren, Lisa Denton and husband Van of Blair, John Baker and wife Danette of Lubbock, Texas, and Dustin Gault and wife Alisha of Lubbock; three great-grandchildren, Brynna, Clayton and Caleb Baker. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kincannon Funeral Home. Online tributes may be made at kincannonfuneralhome.com.
