Bio

The Fairbury Journal-Nov. 19, 1964 William Ernest Eden of Fairbury, Neb., died in a local hospital Nov. 15, 1964 at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 4 days. Bill was the eldest of the 11 children of Cornelius and Matie Eden, and was born July 11, 1898 at Oketo, Kas. In his early childhood he moved to Jefferson county, Neb., and spent the remainder of his life here. On Aug. 26, 1918, he was married to Effie Wilson at Fairbury, Neb. He was employed by the Fairbury Windmill Co. for 29 years until ill health forced his retirement in 1957 He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of 14 and united with the Methodist church in 1954. He was a faithful member and attended services whenever his health would permit. Surviving are his wife, Effie and three children, William of Springfield Ore., Lorraine, Mrs. Homer Troxel of Endicott and Esther, Mrs. Harold Kulhanek jr of Fairbury; brothers, Cornelius of Steele City, Fred of Powell, Wyo.; Edward of Ralston, Wyo., Raymond of Palo Alto, Calif., and John of Fairbury; four sisters, Mrs. Sadie Williams of Clever, Mo., Mrs. Anna Fox of Bellevue, Ohio, Mrs. Viola Bush and Mrs. Doris Koch, both of Fairbury, and 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, Carl and grandson, Harold Kulhanek. Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. Donald Littrell, officiating. Mrs. Frank Hall was organist. Pallbearers were Henry Ortgies, Paul Hatfield, Fred Rogge, John Slater, Egbert Riggle and Gus Ehrett. Burial was in the Fairbury cemetery.
