The Clay County Sun (Clay Center, NE), Thursday, February 26, 1959; pg. 3 Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schnase of Hastings announce the engagement of their daughter Janice Kay to Alvin L. Hajny of Edgar. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Schnase is a graduate of Hastings high school and is employed in the Dutton-Lainson Company office. Her finance is a graduate of Clay Center high school, served in the Army for two years and employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot. ============================================== The Hastings Daily Tribune (Hastings, NE), Saturday, May 7, 1960; pg. 3 Janice Schnase Becomes Bride of Alvin L. Hajny Miss Janice Kay Schnase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schnase, became the bride of Alvin Lewis Hajny, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hajny of Edgar, at St. Cecilia's Church April 23 at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Thomas Pucelik officiated at a double ring ceremony. Two pedestal baskets of pink and white roses, gladioli and carnations formed a setting for the service and carnations and gladioli graced the altar. Mrs. Dennis Mullen sang "Ave Marla," "The Lord's Prayer" and "Blessed Be This Day" accompanied by Miss Ann Goodrich. Miss Janet Hajny, sister of the bridegroom and maid of honor, Miss Delores Hajny, also a sister, Miss Connie Rutt and Miss Betty Schumm, bridesmaids, wore pink embossed taffeta dresses made with scoop necklines, three-quarter length sleeves and full skirts. The attendants carried baskets filled with pink and white carnations and gladioli with greenery. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a gown of lace and tulle with natural scallops of the lace outlining the Sabrina neckline which was traced with pearls and sequins. The sleeves were bridal style and the floorlength skirt featured alternating panels of tulle and lace. Her veil was held by a pillbox style hat of small lace ruffles, jewel studded, and she carried a cascade of pink roses and stephanotis. Christy Mertens, cousin of the bridegroom, and Jeannie Oberg, cousin of the bride, were the flowerglrls and wore pink embossed taffeta and carried baskets of flowers. Joseph Lashley carried the rings. Lilburn Hajny was his brother's bestman, Robert Hajny, also a brother, and Gary Schnase, brother of the bride, were the groomsmen and Duane Schliep and Darrel Smith of Clay Center were the ushers. The reception was held at the Gymtorium and assistants were Mrs. Lanny Hajny, Mrs. Clara Fischer, Mrs. Ray Buhr, Mrs. Darryl Derricks, Mrs. Larry Stromer, Mrs. Wesley Schliep, Mrs. Jerry Rutt, Mrs. Arthur Kessler, Jr., Miss Mary Frances Scott and Rollin and David Hajny, brothers of the bridegroom. The serving table held a three-tier wedding cake encircled by pink and white wedding bells and a tiny aisle was marked with pink taffeta. The couple will live In Clay Center after a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. The bride, a graduate of Hastings high school, is employed at Dutton-Lainson Company and the bridegroom, a graduate of Clay Center high school, served two years in the Army and is employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot.
