SAN ANTONIO - Former Borger resident Major Orvel W. Stewart, 51, died here Tuesday, Feb. 3. Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Main Post chapel of Fort Sam Houston. Burial was by Porter Loring Funeral Directors. Maj. Stewart was a retired U.S. Air Force officer. In his more than 20 years of active duty, Maj. Stewart served as a multi-engine jet pilot at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., Brooks, Kelly and Lackland Air Force Bases in San Antonio, and in bases in Japan and Greece. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two sisters, Mrs. W.A. Collier of Dumas and Mrs. Lillard Brattin of Wheaton, Mo.; his aunt, Mrs. Lee Cason of Borger; his step-mother, Mrs. John T. Stewart of Odessa; and a half-brother, John T. Stewart, Jr. of Dennison. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. (Published in Borger News Herald, February 10, 1981)
