Born March 30, 1914, in Oakland, Texas, she was the daughter of Joseph Lee and Ruth Morris Young. She married Archie Glossup on Jan. 22, 1949, in Cumby. They were married 53 years before he preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Glossup was a partner with her husband in the dairy business and was a homemaker. Prior to her marriage she attended subcollege at East Texas Normal College, and then was the bookkeeper at Perry Brothers in Sulphur Springs. Some of the things she enjoyed included playing the piano for family and church, cooking and sewing. Most of all, she loved being with and nurturing her family and friends, especially if that included time with her grandchildren who called her Meme Doll, and her daughter. She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Beth Sampson of Commerce; two grandsons, Jonathan Sampson and wife Grete of Azusa, Calif., and Joshua Sampson of Austin; four nephews, Brian Peacock and wife Judy of Garland, Joe Don Peacock and wife Patricia of Ridgeway, Jerry Glossup and wife Shirley of Birthright, and Doyle Glossup and wife Hazel of Sulphur Springs; numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and a multitude of loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Kate Peacock; and one nephew, Harral Peacock. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Youth, in care of Wesley United Methodist Church, 614 Texas Street, Sulphur Springs, 75482.
