Alice Louise Tate (October 17, 1922 - October 5, 2008) Alice Louise Tate, 85, of Georgetown, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Louise as she was known by her family and friends was born in Hutto, Texas on October 17, 1922 to the late Spencer Coleman and Alice May Evans Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Campbell Tate; her daughter, Susan Alice Tate; her son, Spencer Oran Tate and her sister, Katherine Crosby. Louise was a longtime faithful member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Georgetown. She was a proud graduate of The University of Texas, she went on to teach for several area school districts and retired from the Pearsall ISD. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Georgetown Gardening Club and Book Club, Georgetown Recreation Center Seniors Group and the Native Plant Society. She had a green thumb and loved to make things grow. She was brilliant woman and touched the hearts and minds of many people in her career and life. Louise leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son, Cam Tate and his wife Maria; grandchildren, Christy Hoffman and husband Hoyt, Will Tharp and his wife Chrissy, Sharee Bone and Brian Potts; 4 great grandchildren, Samantha and Emily Hoffman, Coleman Tharp and Tommy Bone; along with a host of other loving family members and dear friends. Visitation for Louise will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH35, Georgetown, Texas. A services celebrating Louise's life will be on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. John's United Methodist Church, 311 East University, Georgetown with interment following at Hutto City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Louise's name to the St. John's United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
