Bio

Joyce Helen Boyd went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at a local hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Bill Pack officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Oakcrest Funeral Home. Joyce was born in Fairfield,Texas, to Doyle and Earle (Emmons) Harrison. After graduating from high school, she married Jasper Roland Boyd, July 22, 1946, and made Waco her home. She was a telephone operator and an estimate assigner for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 43 years. She was a member of North Waco Baptist Church, W.I.N.G.S., Telephone Pioneers and volunteered for Sul Ross Senior Citizens for 20 years. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Boyd; daughter, Melinda Boyd McBroom; and her parents. She is survived by sons, Glen Dale Boyd and wife, Penny, of China Spring and David Harrison Boyd, of Fort Worth; brother, Bill Harrison and wife, Laura, of West Monroe, La.; son-in-law, Bobby McBroom, of Waco; grandsons, Gary Dale Boyd and wife, Nina, of Flower Mound, Dave Boyd II and wife, Mellissa, Nathan Boyd and Jonathan Boyd, all of Ft. Worth and Andrew Boyd and wife, Jill, of North Richland Hills; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Providence Hospital nurses and to Providence Hospice for their loving care.
