Bio

Funeral services for Panola County native L. D. Woods were held Sunday, May 18, at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Hawthorn Funeral Home, with Dr. Laney Johnson and Rev. Wayne Novell officiating. Burial followed in Restland Memorial Park. Woods, 78, died Friday morning, May 16, at his home in Longview. Woods was born Sept. 28, 1907, the son of Joseph Hardy and Ada Gentry Woods. He had lived in Longview since 1942, moving from Marshall. Woods retired from Longview Construction in 1972 and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Mobberly Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Pauline G. Woods of Longview; a daughter, Bytha Ann Woods Fisher of Japan; and two sisters, Georgia Ruth Dailey of Carthage and June Meek of Oregon.
