Daughter of William & Martha Jane (Snoddy) Tolle "William Tolle married Polly Turner March 15, 1804, at age 18. There were objections over his age, so they had to marry in Maryland. Polly died 29 July 1823, in childbirth, at the age of 40 after bearing 15 children for William. Five died in infancy. William then married Martha Jane Snoddy in 1825. He was 40 and she was 20. She bore him twelve more children! Three known to have died in infancy. William died September 27, 1854, at age 66 from hard swelling of the jaw. Martha died December 24, 1859, of paralysis, at age 54. So, William had 27 children by two wives; 8 children to die in infancy."
