Thanks to contributor #47226369; Funeral Services For Stanley Jonak Thursday The sudden death of Stanley Jonak which occurred early Tuesday morning, February 3, was a great shock to the community. Mr. Jonak apparently in good health, died from a heart attack shortly after he has arisen Tuesday morning. At the time of his death he was 82 years, 10 months and 3 days of age. Mr. Jonak was born to Lawrence and Mary Jonak in Radlow, Poland on March 30, 1859 and came to the United States alone in 1885 at the age of 26 years. He came directly to Columbus, Nebraska. There he met and married MaryWolczynski in 1893. They came to Sherman county in 1905 and settled on a farm near Ashton where they lived for 23 years. In 1928 they retired and came to town to live. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jonak; three sons, Steve, Frank and Joe all residing near Ashton; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Stanczyk and Mrs. John Sawicki both of Ashton and Miss Stella Jonak of Grand Island. He is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. One child, John, the oldest son preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, February 5 at 9 o'clock at the St. Francis church in Ashton with Rev. Aloysius Jarzemski officiating. Interment was made in the St. Francis cemetery. The pallbearers were LaVern Sawicki, Harry and Eddie Synowski, Edwin, Louie and Ernest Stanczyk. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Miss Stella Jonak of Grand Island, John Wolinski of Farwell, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stanczyk of Farwell, Stanley Kantor, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kantor and son, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Cynova, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stanczyk and Mike Mroczek all of Loup City.
