Funeral services for Mr. W.C. "Buddy" Skinner, Sr., of Carthage, are set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Burnaman and the Rev. A.P. Bazer officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park. Mr. Skinner, 78, died Monday, May 16, at his residence. Born April 5, 1910 in Shelby County, he was the son of Jeff David and Mary Jane Parker Skinner. Mr. Skinner had been a resident of Panola County for 37 years moving here from Wood County. He had retired from United Gas Pipeline Company in 1959 after being employed for 34 years. Mr. Skinner was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Carthage and was a member of the Carthage Oddfellows Lodge for more than 30 years. Survivors include his wife: Marie Boyd Skinner of Carthage; two sons, W.C. "Billy" Skinner, Jr., of Carthage, Robert Skinner of Mesquite; three daughters: Gayle Jimeno and Debbie Lee Skinner, both of Houston, Sheila Sue Skinner of Round Rock; one half-sister: Ona Mae Nicholson of Independence, Mo.; two granddaughters and four grandsons.
