Services for Marvin Jessie Wise, 62, Tyler, are set for 2pm Saturday in Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home chapel, Tyler, with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mr. Wise died Thursday in a Tyler hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born August 31, 1923, in Colorado City, Texas. He was a resident of Smith County 17 years. Mr. Wise was a graduate of Iraan High School and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mount Caramel Baptist Church, and was retired from the Dallas Police Department. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christine Wise, Tyler; his father and stepmother Marvin and Lola Wise, Levelland; one son, David Wayne Wise, Conroe; two brothers, Kenneth Wise, Tyler and Manuel Wise, Jacksonville, Florica; one sister, Ruth Freeman, Levelland; and four grandchildren, Mrs. Christie Cochran, Mrs. Mistie Hill and Clifford Wayne Wise, all of Conroe, and Billy Todd Wies, Oklahoma; and four great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be O.J. Stainback, A.B. Higgins, Bill Nail, Leon Santos,Bill Pruett and Troy Portwood.
