Bio

Son of Alex P. & Helen R. (Dush) Zelasney. He grew up in the Clarks, Silver Creek, and Duncan areas. He graduated from Clarks High School in 1959. Emil entered the US Army and served from 1959-1961. He returned to the Silver Creek area where he lived the majority of his life. He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Martin on December 1, 1962 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Columbus. Emil worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several years before going to work as a full time thoroughbred horse trainer, owner, and breeder. Emil's horses' raced primarily on the Nebraska Circuit. In 1989, Emil had the Budweiser Stakes winning horse Fabled Kahn who set the then track record at Fonner Park. Emil's passion was his horses, sports, the huskers, and the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Nebraska Breeders Association, and the American Legion.
