Zimola, 87, of Fremont, formerly of Wahoo, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Fremont Area Medical Center. He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Wahoo to John and Frances (Bruckner) Zimola. He was raised in Wahoo and graduated from Wahoo High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Sept. 12, 1939, to Nov. 2, 1945. He served aboard the USS Louisville in the South Pacific. After his discharge, he returned to Wahoo until moving to Fremont in 1957. He worked in the parts departments at auto dealerships in Wahoo and later at Nick Neff Motors and Charlie Diers Ford in Fremont. He retired in 1986. He married Helen Herrick on July 26, 1949, in Wahoo.He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Pathfinder Wood Carving Club in Fremont. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4502 and Hilltop Country Club in Wahoo. Survivors include: his wife; a son, John (and wife, Elizabeth) Zimola of Greeley, Colo.; two daughters, Sue Zimola of San Rafael, Calif., and Judy (and husband, Patrick) Waters of Fairfax, Calif.; a sister, Eleanor Weil of Denver; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. The funeral Mass will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo with military honors by Wahoo VFW Post 4502 and American Legion Post 82. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
