US Army World War II TEC5 Leslie E. Davis accidental death Cause of Loss, Vehicle collision & explosion Unit Hometown: service# Awards: Details of career here. Notes On December 21 1942 Pfc. Avery was Driving a truck carrying a land mine it collided with a Corps of Engineers vehicle. Both vehicles exploded into flames. Avery and the 6 Army personnel including Davis were killed, burned beyond recognition. All 7 ultimately were buried with military honors in this Tennessee mass grave. Individual identifications were impossible. Involved were PFC Herman D. Avery USMC 2nd/Lt. Charles Barkman US Army T/5 Leslie E. Davis US Army Pfc. George W. Fulkerson US Army Pfc. John J.
